Domain status and fixes
What each status means, and what to do when your domain won't connect.
In Address, your domain and app.yourdomain each show a status.
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Waiting for your record | Ownsite can't find the record yet | Add it as shown in Connect your domain. The page checks by itself. |
| Setting up HTTPS | The record is right. A secure connection is being set up. | Nothing. Wait a few minutes. |
| Connected | The address works | Nothing |
#Hints under a record
| Hint | Fix |
|---|---|
| "Points to ..., change it to the value above" | The record exists but has the wrong value. Paste the value from the page into Value. |
| "Host should be only ..., not the full address" | You typed the whole domain in Host. Type only @, app or _cf-challenge. |
| "The record is right, waiting for it to reach the world" | Nothing. It usually takes a few minutes. |
| "Found the @ record, but it hasn't passed the check" | Make sure the TXT record (_cf-challenge) is there too, and that the old @ records are gone, such as a parking page's URL Redirect. |
Tip:
Using Cloudflare? The most common cause is the orange cloud. Set Proxy status to the gray DNS only on every record.
#Switching domains
You can't change a domain that is partly connected into a different one. Press Stop using this domain first, then enter the new one. A domain can only be used by one site at a time.
